Abstract Exploration across the solar system and of worlds beyond is nearing the point where we can ask whether any of these objects are habitable and inhabited. To answer this question required an outstanding understanding of their non-biological processes. This talk will consider the route to finding signs of life we can confidently interpret as biological in origin. About the Speaker Our speaker this week is Professor Oli Shorttle, a Professor of Natural Philosophy at the Institute of Astronomy and Department of Earth Sciences, Cambridge University. His work investigates how planets come to host life, on Earth, solar system planets, and exoplanets. He is Course Director for the Planetary Science and Life in the Universe (PSLU) MPhil, Deputy Director of Education at the School of Physical Sciences, and a Fellow and Director of Studies at Clare College.
