Te Akaan Laar is a Mandalorian band forged from tragedy. Its core voices are Karn Veyruk and Sira Talven, survivors of an isolated northern clan that once lived in vast cavern networks beneath Mandalore’s pole. When the Purge came, much of their people were buried as the tunnels collapsed, but survivors managed to escape in battered ships after the Empire had abandoned its search for survivors. They have spoken of watching their home burn through soot-smeared viewports, exhausted and half-starved, carrying with them nothing but memory and song. Much of their music reflects that loss and defiance, and the rituals once performed by their clan: heavy, echoing rhythms and dual voices that rise like chants in the dark, honoring the dead while urging the living to endure. The lyrics, translated from Mando'a: [Intro] For... For those who are gone. Those who are gone. [Verse 1] For them, for them, For those who are gone. Stand up, stand tall, Fight — again and again. For when you are still here, Their memory is not gone. So stand up, stand tall, And fight, fight again. [Bridge] Stand tall, Mandalorians! [Chorus] Mandalorians, children of Mandalore, Remember them — remember the dead. Still, oh still, we bleed. Stand up, stand tall. They are gone, They are gone… Mandalorians, children of Mandalore, Remember them — remember the living. Still, oh still, we are here. Stand up, stand tall. They are gone, They are gone… [Bridge] They are gone… [Verse 2] For family, for blood, Stand in wrath, stand to defend. Fight the traitors and the enemy. You, Mandalorian — do not die, For we still need you here. So stand up, stand tall, And fight, fight again. [Bridge] Fight and live, fight and live. Mandalorians, hear me: Do fight and live. [CHORUS REPEATS] [Verse 3] For Mandalore, for Mandalore! Destroy the evil and the useless. Stand as one to protect family, And avenge our home. Pain for armor, Wrath as a war blade. Stand up, stand tall, And fight, fight again. [Bridge] Enemy in fear, blade in hand and family close. [Verse 4] They are with the stars — Our family and many friends. Our enemies go there now, We send them there. By blaster and by blade, By fire and by wrath, Stand up, stand tall, And fight again. [Bridge] And fight again, Yes, fight again, Brave Mandalorian. [CHORUS REPEATS] [Outro] For them, for them, Who are with the stars... For them, for them, For those who are gone… NOTE: While there is no official "canon" grammar for Mando’a, many communities across the world have worked hard to expand and develop the language further. I have great respect for those who have learned and practiced those versions. This song was written in a way that could be loosely translated, but it is not meant to represent grammatically precise Mando’a. Please see it instead as a loving interpretation. My hope is that, whether or not you’re fluent in Mando’a, you can still enjoy the song and the spirit it carries — perhaps imagining it as an ancient dialect, or a cultural accent.
