IRAN - Dr. Ali Shariati Street (previously known as Shemiran Old Road and Korosh Kabir Street) is one of the most important and long streets in Tehran, which has a south-north direction. Before the revolution, this street was called Koresh Kabir Street. After the revolution, the name of this street was changed to the name of Ali Shariati, an Iranian writer and researcher who gave many lectures in Hosseiniyeh Irshad located on this street. This street is considered to be the oldest communication road between Tehran and Shemiran and Qasran area, and its extension connected Dar al-Khilafeh to Shemiran area in the north of Tehran during the Qajar period. The southern beginning of this street, which used to be Shemiran Gate in the past (until the end of Qajar), today is considered Shemiran's turn on El-Ghelab Street and extends to Quds Square. This street houses commercial and service functions in a wide range from local to urban scale.
