Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, creative director Rafael Prieto approaches life with an openness that invites serendipity. When he was 11, he imagined what his life might one day look like. Years later in New York, he stumbled across a Tribeca loft listing that perfectly mirrored that childhood vision. He moved in and it became a place where life and work naturally blur. Through his multidisciplinary practice – Savvy Studio, a bookstore and guest house in Mexico City, artisanal chocolates, and furniture design – projects that may seem vastly different on the surface all take shape within the same space, guided by Rafael’s instinct for storytelling and ability to weave personal meaning into every detail. Surroundings is a new series exploring the environments that shape creative worlds. It’s rooted in the belief that spaces are more than just walls and furniture – they hold memories, histories, and the quiet details that define who we are.
