Palanga is a coastal city in Lithuania located on the Baltic Sea. The city has a population of just around 16,000 yet Palanga is known for its beaches and sand dunes. Palanga is a popular summer tourist destination in the area and even has an Airport 7 km from the city center. On this tour we start at the beach. We see the Palanga Pier which extends 470 meters into the sea. We walk all along the Basanavičius Street, the main pedestrian thoroughfare. This street is lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops, becoming a spot for visitors in the summer. In early June it was still fairly quiet. Soon we check the city center with a musical fountain and return to the beach. With the sunset we walk all the way on the Palanga Pier where sunsets go as late as 10PM end of June.
