In Episode 3, “Knives Out,” the mystery deepens as Cordelia Cupp uncovers another layer of lies, rivalry, and betrayal hiding in plain sight. Episode Summary: Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) investigates the suspicious behavior of White House pastry chef Didier Gotthard (Ismael Cruz Córdova), who becomes a prime suspect after a series of incidents with Chef Marvella (Susan Kelechi Watson) and the late Chief Usher A.B. Wynter (Edi Gathegi). Cupp learns about a wellness-themed Christmas disaster involving a hidden gingerbread replica of the White House and a candy version of Wynter stabbed in the back—foreshadowing, perhaps? Tensions escalated again during the state dinner, when Wynter altered Gotthard’s dessert presentation for breaking protocol. After noticing billiard chalk on Gotthard’s coat, Cupp deduces that he found Wynter’s body and tried to cover it up. Meanwhile, a piece of cedar from the garden leads her to suspect that butler Sheila Cannon (Alison Pill) may have lied about her whereabouts during the night of the murder.
