Google "half dome permits" to get info how to apply the permit. Be aware that it's one of the most popular permit required hikes in the US. Many people, including me, fail to get a permit for multiple trials. After getting the permit, I stayed a night in Half dome village in Yosemite Valley and started at 5am in the morning. It's 16 miles hike with 4200 ft elevation gain. It took 12 hours round trip for me. Some people in good shape do it in 7 hours. I hiked very slowly and spent a lot of time taking pictures and videos. It requires some effort to get a permit, arrange logistics. You might also need to train for it as it's very strenuous hike. Despite all the efforts, it's definitely worth. You will never forget the scary feeling of cable climbing and the awesome view from the top of Half dome. :) Half Dome is in SPS peaks list.
