This is my vintage Hoover Elite 350 upright vacuum (from 1990), model U4459-940, that I bought on eBay from YouTube user Kirby Vacuum Collector & Fixer ( / kirbyvacuumcollectorfixer . I originally was against buying another vacuum that's already a duplicate of a vacuum I already have ( • Hoover Elite 350 U4459 Upright Vacuum ), but what made me get this one is mostly due to the history behind this model; this model was originally owned by Kyle Krichbaum who originally had a documentary made about him and his obsession with vacuums ( • The Vacuum Kid ), who would later go on the show Wanna Bet (not the tonight show like I mistakenly said in this video) ( • Wanna Bet? Ep4 Bet 3 - Vacuum Cleaner Kid ), where they take all his vacuum collection to have him guess the vacuum by hearing. This vacuum was originally acquired by Kyle, restored and originally motor swapped when it was sold to Thom (Kirby Vacuum Collector & Fixer), who would later sell it to me, and I, being the Elite lover and purist I am, I had a parts motor laying around that I threw into this, and now I have it running in its original condition. This series started back in the late 80s and soon became the successor to the legendary Convertible series, and its popularity rose fast, because of how lightweight & powerful they were. This did come with the original attachment converter which attaches on the bottom of the machine, but unfortunately, it's missing the dusting brush and the crevice tool. It features a 5 amp motor with direct air design and takes Hoover Type A bags (this example is running the Hepa bags that are available but a big pricey but worth it in the filtration and increased performance). The suction is not the best (especially in tool mode), but the airflow is fantastic (especially since installing that upgraded fan impeller), and the agitation is amazing for a machine that has its original single row brush roll. My only complaints about this machine are that it's quite loud when in use and can sometimes be very vulnerable when using since it's entirely made out of plastic. Overall, I absolutely love this vacuum and is certainly better than anything Hoover makes today.
