This is my vintage Hoover Elite 350 upright vacuum (from 1988), model U4463-900. I already have another Elite 350 of the same model ( • Hoover Elite 350 U4463-9 Upright Vacuum ), so what made me get this model while I already have another is mostly due to the fact that this is an early model Elite with a different motor design (that uses a different bearing design that was similar to the Concept One in design) that was used only on early model Elites before the design was changed abruptly to correct the excess motor noise, so this is an example of an Elite with its original motor design. This example in the Elite lineup was the mid-tier model since it had only 2 (3) carpet height adjustments and it came with a slide top outer bag. This older style of Hoover Elite Uprights did have an optional tool converter that can be attached to the bottom sole plate, and it'll all run through a hose. It features a 5 amp motor with direct air design and takes Hoover Type A bags (this example is running the HEPA bags that are available but a big pricey but worth it in the filtration and increased performance). The suction is not the best (especially in tool mode), but the airflow is fantastic, and the agitation is amazing ever since it got its upgraded brush roll. My only complaints about this machine is that it's quite loud when in use (especially since this has the earlier style motor that makes a bit more bearing noise) and can sometimes be very vulnerable when using since it's entirely made out of plastic (case in point with the lower cord hook). Overall, I absolutely love this vacuum and is certainly better than anything Hoover makes today.
