In meinem heutigen Film geht es um das „Schlesische Windsor“. Ein unglaublicher Ort! Mal Sommerresidenz, mal Wohnsitz von Königen. Ich kann hier und bei meinem Geschichtsabriss am Ende des Films nicht annähernd wiedergeben, um welchen geschichtsträchtigen Ort es sich hier handelt. Was ich hier heute zeige ist nur ein kleiner Nebenanbau. Das Schloss selbst wurde 1945 gesprengt, brannte aus und wurde bis 1989 abgetragen und z.B. für den Wiederaufbau von Warschau genutzt. Danke ! ________________________________________________________________________ Information about history: It was Duke Christian Ulrich of Württemberg-Oels who named this place Sibyllenort in honor of his second wife Sibylle Maria of Saxe-Merseburg. By 1692, a 13-axis palace was built here as a summer residence with a French garden surrounded by a moat. Between 1851 and 1867, the last Duke of Oels, Wilhelm of Brunswick-Lüneburg, had the palace complex rebuilt and significantly expanded in the British Tudor style under the direction of the architect Carl Wolf, based on Windsor Castle. The palace ultimately comprised 400 rooms. In addition, a 75-hectare English landscape park with ponds and a 200-hectare game reserve were created. The park with 60 exhibition rooms could be visited. There was a large collection of paintings and Meissen porcelain to see. Many crowned rulers of Europe visited this place and it became a real tourist attraction. After his abdication in 1918 as the last Saxon king, Friedrich August III lived here until his death in 1932. His heir, Friedrich Christian of Saxony, could no longer maintain the huge building for financial reasons. He had a large part of the interior furnishings auctioned off in 1935. The library went to the University of Breslau. On January 26, 1945, as the Red Army approached, the central part of the palace was blown up by the Wehrmacht, and the entire palace burned down completely. In the 1950s, demolition of the ruins began, which continued with interruptions until 1989. Some of the stones were used to rebuild Warsaw.
