According to the Department of Defense, the Army & Navy have the highest numbers of sexual harassment, assault and sexual trauma in the military armed forces in the USA. Sexual assaults and harassment reports have increased from approx. 14,900 in 2018 to 20,500 in 2018 and cases tend to be underreported by survivors because of fear of retaliation, shame & blame, and other negative repercussions. In this very timely interview, Amy Franck speaks candidly with Jane Dickerson about the environment in the Army and other branches of the military which allows this culture to persist with little repercussion or accountability for the predators. They address the Vanessa Guillen case and other cases where survivors who report are hazed, taunted, demoted, punished, harassed further, harmed or killed, or sometimes end up dying of suicide. The military forces like to spin the problems as localized to a specific region rather than a widespread problem, but when we look at patterns and movements of troops, it's clear that the problem is systemic and widespread.
