Learn Your Golf Swing's Power Source - Hit Longer Golf Shots ⛳ Join our FREE Center Of Gravity Golf member's area and start lowering your handicap today! http://bit.ly/2H1E43a ________________________________________________________________ There are 2 major power sources in your golf swing, I call them the “Engine”, and the “Piston” Turning the Engine is the transition move from the top, this is responsible for delivering the club down to the ball. One of the most common swing faults I believe is the stalling of the engine. Your engine stalls when it stops rotating toward the target and your arms fly past the bottom of your swing before it can get its job done. The “All arms swing” the “Over the top swing” and the “Hit from the Top swing” are all caused by a stalled engine. If your engine gets its job done, you can’t swing “over the top”; as this is caused by a stalled engine which causes a reverse in the rotation sequence, which we will discuss a little later. Take notice of any professional golfers’ impact position on a full shot. When the clubhead reaches the bottom of the swing, the engine (belt buckle) has passed the bottom of the swing, pulling the golf club into the “Slot”. It’s the engine that pulls the golf club into the slot and creates the club heads proper path to the target while generating the initial power you need to create consistent distance on every swing. When we learn and understand the importance of the engine in the golf swing in both your long game and your short game, we’ll start to give it more attention and let it do the job. Learning the simple “turn” method we described earlier and understanding that this “turn” is the engine of the swing will set you on your way to consistency and distance you may have never experienced before. The second power source you need to have to complete your golf swing is a rotation I call the “Piston”. The Piston is the compression rotation of the swing, the one that crushes the golf ball and makes it fly. The modern golf ball is the most regulated piece of equipment we have today. Even in the times of drivers with exotic shaft materials and moveable weights, the golf ball continues to be the most advanced. Golf Balls are packed with energy and a Professional golfer knows how to get the energy out of the ball…by compressing it. Compressing a golf ball simply means squeezing it against the clubface and maximizing the rebounding properties of the ball resulting in increased ball speed, and increased spin rate, resulting in maximum carry distance for the particular club used. I always ask my students if they’ve ever heard of the term “releasing the clubhead”. Almost 100 % of people I ask have heard the term from a Pro, or from an article they’ve read, or from the Golf Channel and agree it’s a very important part of the golf swing, but when I ask them if they can explain it to me, almost 100% of them have no idea what it is. The Piston rotation is the compression move that squeezes the golf ball and creates long and straight shots. This is the move that is described as (releasing the club). It’s been called supination and pronation, releasing the club head, flipping or rolling the wrists, it’s been called many things but what it actually happens is a natural rotation of the left forearm through the bottom of the swing providing your piston is engaged and ready to fire.
