Most MCP demos show the same pattern: connect Claude to an MCP server and expose every tool to everyone. That works for toy examples — but it completely breaks in real systems. In production, tools represent capabilities: some are paid features some are admin-only some are dangerous or irreversible some exist only for internal workflows If the model can see a tool, it can reason about it and call it. Prompt rules are not a security boundary. In this video, we break down why exposing all tools is a fundamental flaw in most MCP demos, and how to design MCP servers with: server-side security role-based tool visibility feature flags explicit tool contracts We show how the MCP lifecycle already gives us the right hook (tools/list) to dynamically control what Claude can see — without breaking the protocol or relying on UI hacks. This is not about prompt safety. This is about capability control. If you’re building agent platforms, enterprise AI tools, or production MCP servers, this is the layer you cannot skip. #mcp #claude #aiagents #llmtools #agentsecurity #capabilitybasedsecurity #featureflags #llmarchitecture #aiinfrastructure #developers
