The UBLOX GPS NEO-M8N (as well as other UBLOX GPS models) can be used as a reference clock, since it can provide an accurate, stable and configurable output frequency. The frequency is configured using U-Center software that is freely available for download from uBlox. This video discusses why jitter (glitches) occurs, which frequencies are best chosen to avoid it, as well as how to connect the GPS unit's PPS output to other electronic devices to achieve the highest quality square wave signal. The UBLOX GPS units can produce 140 jitter-free frequencies. These 140 are the factors of 24 million (i.e., 24 MHz). The list of all 140 factors/frequencies is shown here: https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calcul... The Bottom Line: If you want to use your uBlox GPS unit as a limited signal generator and can accept an inaccuracy of a few Hertz, choose an output frequency that divides evenly into 24 MHz and turn off the satellite networks using uCenter software. This should produce a reliable, jitter-free output signal.
