All other chalk paint colors are from Debi's DIY stockist For legs I have cut a decorative wooden piece which i have saved from some other broken table. I have cut this into 2 halves and attached a small square piece of wood using screws. Later screwed this on to the bottom of the cabinet. I have also made the gopuram. The finials will be attached to the gopuram only after finishing the painting part. i want to leave this gopuram detachable. this helps for easy transportation and also if later we don't want to use it as pooja cabinet we can simply remove the gopuram and use it for different purpose. to see how to make this gopuram watch 'how to construct gopuram' a video in my channel.    • How to construct gopuram for pooja mandir-...   Since this is an antique piece the paints are flaking out. so before start painting I want to sand it lightly to remove the flaking paints. First I am start painting from inside. For inside cabinet i always prefer orange or red. For the color theam that i have in my mind red goes well. i am using a red color from chalky rustoleum which is not a chalk paint but gives chalk paint look. i like this paint very much because of its price and also has all the benificiery of chalk paint. It has some disadvantages. it does not come in smaller size and not all colors are available. I am using normal synthetic paint brush for this paint. As always this paint also needs 2 coats. I am also [painting the sides of the cabinet red. For the decorative part of this doors i am using Blue iris from debi's diy. I have chose green for painting the edges and red in some places. the rest of the place i am go to paint orange. later i am going to paint gold to cover the orange. this is because the gold color that i am using is not a chalk paint. It is actually like a finishing coat and it is little transparent. so when we apply gold the base color will see through the gold. so if we choose orange or yellow as base color even if it sees through the gold it will not look different. As always I am doing the stencil work inside the cabinet using white color. For outside I want to do hand painted designs to give more traditional look. For this i am using this fine tip bottles. i have filled three bottles with gold, white and green colors. i bought this from amazon. the fine tip in this bottle allows to draw delicate designs. its like using a henna cone to do mehandhi designs. it is that easy. i am doing this designs on each and every spots of the cabinet to give a rich look. Now I have finished all the designs and now the cabinet is in its final stage. I want to finish the inside cabinet using water based polyurethane and outside using black wax to give an antique look. As i apply the wax you can see the colors deepening and makes it very soothing. Once the wax has dried i want to do buffing. to get that buttery and shiny finish buffing is essential. you can skip buffing if you like a mate finish. Finally i have spray painted the finials and attaching it on the gopuram. After placing the gopuram on the night stand the pooja mandir is complete.
