Come walk with us through a different side of Kyoto! In this episode, we’re dodging the crowds at Arashiyama and hunting for autumn colors in the mountains and hidden bamboo groves. Things didn't go exactly to plan, but that’s part of the adventure! Day 3: Mountains & Quiet Rivers 🏔️ We started early with a city bus ride up to Mt. Takao. This area has been famous for its stunning autumn foliage since the Heian period (over 1,000 years ago!) and serves as a peaceful mountain retreat away from the city noise. Later, we headed down to the Katsura River—but not the busy spot everyone knows! We walked the southern side, which offers a completely different, serene vibe compared to the main Arashiyama crossing. Day 4: The "Secret" Bamboo Park (Oops!) 🎋 We took a bus to a hidden gem: Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Park. It’s a dedicated bamboo garden designed to preserve traditional bamboo culture. Travel Fail: We arrived on a Wednesday... the one day it's closed! 😅 We still had a lovely walk around the outside perimeter—it’s still worth the trip for the quiet atmosphere. Back in the city, we strolled along the beautiful Shirakawa Canal in the historic Gion district and visited Yasaka Shrine (the spiritual heart of the area, famous for the Gion Matsuri festival). We ended the day at our special spot along the Kamo River. We last sat here 2 years ago during cherry blossom season, but the autumn view is just as magical. 0:00 Intro Day 3 0:21 To Mt.Takao 1:40 Takao Bridge 2:17 Start Walking 3:18 Jingo-ji Temple 4:10 Jingo-ji Kondo (Golden Hall) 4:43 かわらけ投げ 6:21 Along Kiyotaki River 7:55 Shigetsu Bridge 8:56 Saga-Arashiyama Station 9:12 Walking Arashiyama 9:48 Walking Along Katsura River 12:03 Day 4 12:17 To Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Park 13:17 Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Park 14:29 Shirakawa Canal 15:28 Yasaka Shrine 17:05 Kamo River, End of Day 4 Camera: Sony A7IV Lens: Sony FE 24mm F/1.4 GM, Sony FE 85mm F/1.8 Microphone: Sony ECM-M1 #travel #travelvlog #travelphotography #kyoto #autumninkyoto #arashiyama #takao #mttakao #RakusaiBambooPark #TravelFail #WalkingTour #autumn #autumninjapan #autumncolors #japantravel #japanvlog #japaneseculture #japan
