At long last, it has finally been a year since I began my sewing journey! August 2020 is when I first picked up a needle and thread seriously. It has felt like far, far longer, but in order to celebrate this milestone, I thought it would be fun to review everything I made in my first year of sewing to be able to share the creations with all of you. As a kid, I learned how to sew a straight stitch on an electric machine, but that's where my education in sewing stopped. Electric machines terrify me, so when I decided to learn to sew just over a year ago, I knew I wanted to work completely by hand (for a number of reasons). In addition to sewing by hand, I only make historical fashion, since that's what I have been wearing long before I began crafting my own garb. After crunching all the numbers, this year I was able to hand sew just shy of 20 individual items, which adds up to an estimated total of 1,000 hours! I am so incredibly excited to see what historical clothing is to come over the next 12 months and I look forward to making one of these videos annually for all of you to enjoy.
