A Miracle at the Castle Albergue Waking up after the shock of losing 50,000 yen worth of laundry, I found a pair of pants waiting for me at the reception—as if they were meant just for me. They were a perfect "Cinderella fit." I couldn't help but chuckle, thinking they were likely too small for the locals. This little stroke of luck, along with meeting Jane, cleared away yesterday's clouds. Feeling lighter in both gear and spirit, I stepped out under the blue sky. Breakfast on the Way: Baguettes and Reunions A one-euro baguette from the morning market and a warm "¡Buenos días!" from the couple I’d met from Barcelona made for a perfect start. At a cafe in front of a church, Jane appeared once again—it felt as though we were being pulled together by an invisible "red thread of fate." • Menu: Fresh baguette sandwiches with market-bought cheese and ham. • Vibe: A peaceful morning coffee on a cafe bench. Everyone I met asked, "Did you find your laundry?" Each time, I smiled and replied, "No, but my bag is lighter now—I'm lucky!" Heartfelt hugs from my Filipino friends and walking alongside the Italians filled my heart with warmth. An Evening in Zubiri: Dancing and Dinner with Ramon. Zubiri welcomed me with a beautiful albergue adorned with church-like murals. • Dinner: Red wine, the Pilgrim’s Menu, and Zubiri’s famous apple pie. • Reunion: I ran into Ramon, a Frenchman from my previous albergue. He started humming “Comment ça va?” and we spontaneously began to dance! He then made a request: "Could you cook Japanese food for me?" I told him that with rice, veggies, vinegar, and sugar, I could make Chirashi-zushi in no time. Whether I can find the right sushi rice in Spain is part of the adventure!
