The subject includes the noun and its modifiers (what/who the subject is about) and the predicate includes the verb and any other words after the verb (what the subject does). The simple subject is the noun without any of its modifiers. The simple predicate is the verb (including any helping verbs that may be present) without any of its modifiers. One thing to be aware of in determining subject vs. predicate in a sentence is adverbs out of order.
