Loiri Porto San Paolo è un Comune costituito da due borghi, uno collinare e uno costiero, distante venti chilometri da Olbia, in Gallura, nella parte nord-orientale della Sardegna. La leggenda dice che nell’antichità avesse fatto scalo l’apostolo Paolo, prima di ritirarsi in eremitaggio nella Gallura più profonda. Di fronte a Porto San Paolo spunta dal mare l'imponente isola di Tavolara, alta 560 metri, lunga quattro chilometri, un colosso di granito punteggiato di verde mediterraneo che dà nome all’area marina protetta attorno. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loiri Porto San Paolo is a municipality consisting of two villages, one hilly and one coastal, twenty kilometers from Olbia, in Gallura, in the north-eastern part of Sardinia. Legend has it that in ancient times the apostle Paul had made a stopover, before retiring to a hermitage in the deepest Gallura. In front of Porto San Paolo emerges from the sea the imposing island of Tavolara, 560 meters high, four kilometers long, a granite colossus dotted with Mediterranean green that gives its name to the surrounding marine protected area.
