Stellar Falcon SM in the rough

After more than two weeks of late August toasting heat and flat calm - the wind is back! Blasting in with a F 6-7 N'ly that piles short, fierce waves into Fishguard harbour, bouncing reflections off the fort headland and setting a worthy challenge for a wave-starved ski paddler! Today's weapon of choice is Stellar's new Falcon SM, though what that stands for, I'm not sure . . . Seal Man? Special Military? Super Marlin? What I can tell you is that the completely redesigned and configured cockpit takes this version to a whole new level from the previous, very 'generous' seat that I found as uncomfortable and impractical as those front bench seats in a 70's pickup. The new cockpit is not just a comfortable fit at the hip (I'm 6ft 2 and have a very solid seat) but has much less volume for water to build up and a narrow footplate system that gives an elite level catch in this well-mannered, fleet-footed intermediate ski. What you see in this video is a brief taste of 45 minutes of severe interval, resistance, overspeed, balance and technique training - before breakfast!
