A son to the late former energy minister Andrew Lutakome Kayiira is moving to revive his father's political party, the Uganda Freedom Movement (UFM) but under a different name David Kayiira told journalists in Kampala that the new party would be called the Uganda Foundations Monument. Kayiira who is the party's interim party chairperson says the new UFM would help in revamping what he says is the lost patriotism amongst Ugandans especially the youth. He explained that the party has been registered with the Electoral Commission and is ready to begin mobilization. The late Andrew Lutaakome Kayiira was the chairman of the Uganda Freedom Movement, a guerrilla organization that fought the governments of presidents Milton Obote and Tito Okello between 1980 and 1986. He later worked with Yoweri Museveni's National Resistance Army (NRA) that took power in 1986.
