I took a huge risk I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was plagued by uncertainty, insecurity, and people pleasing. I was stuck in at toxic job I didn't like, surrounded by gossip and drama. I had studied for one gruelling year at college for this job, only to hate it, but it didn't happen overnight. I had always wanted to go travelling long-term, I was meant to do this in 2020; I'll let you figure out what happened then that prevented that from happening. So I said screw it, I'm going to book that flight to Europe, on one spontaneous Thursday morning. I remember that morning very well. Eventually, my bosses and colleagues found out, and the last two weeks of working, their true colours showed. They wanted to watch me fail, my travel plans to fall apart, my personal brand to hit a dead end. But I didn't let them bring me down. I still went on that huge trip, and came back a much better man, a truer version of myself, finding my identity again. It was a year ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. That's what travel does. I still have fond memories of my first ever overseas trip to Bali in 2014. No, that's not a typo. Twelve long years ago. No risk, no reward.
