Howdy Folks! Project Synopsis - The long story short – I am a huge fan of the ‘Fools with Tools’ Podcast. Every year they host a ‘Treasure Trade’ where participants make a gift of their own choosing and mail it to another participating ‘Fool’. We were secretly matched up by the event organizers and the challenge began in mid October of 2021. I decided to use plans for vice grip clamps that were designed by ‘John Heisz – I Build It’. The longer back story is this: I make these ‘Studio Session Updates’ for my Patreon Supporters of the Iron Clad Crew. I make them because every day that I work in my studio, my Members want to see what I’m doing and what got completed. They LIKE the nitty gritty (some would consider boring and TMI)! Well recently I’ve been reassured that these videos might be enjoyed by public viewers as well and so the Patreon Ironclad Crew Members have given me permission to post these videos to the public YouTube platform. My name is Laura Vermilye and I am an iron casting metal artist. Being a cast iron artist is an interesting - and at times tough journey, but the rewards far exceed all challenges. While working with cast iron to create my art I am exposed to an amazing community of artists who are as dedicated and passionate as I am. The cast iron art culture is a major influence in my life and on my work and I want to share this artistic adventure with anyone who is interested in seeing hard working people make amazing art with a hot and dangerous material. To do this, I make vlog style videos on this channel that chronicle the artwork that I am currently making and my journeys in iron casting. In between casting and metal art videos you may also see some behind the scenes footage of me roaming around the heart of the Midwest and the Ozarks. At the moment I am sad to say that this channel does not feature as much iron casting as I had hoped when I began on YouTube. As a result of the current world pandemic I am not able to travel to iron pours so I am spending the majority of my free time in my metalsmithing shop.
