WAINWRIGHTS WALK 10 - Grange Fell (Brund Fell and Kings How) 25.01.2025

It was a very last minute decision to do this walk as I was picking something up I had bought on Marketplace from very close by. Therefore, we left late and not well prepared for the actual navigation side of the walk. As a result our original intentions which included all three peaks of Grange Fell ended up becoming two peaks. You only need to do any one of the three to claim Grange Fell apparently but it would have been nice to include Ether Knott and have done all three. Missing out Ether Knott turned this into a nice circular walk. The walk is quite straightforward with well marked paths most of the way round. We saw several people riding down the bridleway on mountain bikes. Our highlight was having lunch on Kings How with lovely views of Derwent Water and the Borrowdale Valley. There was still some snow to be seen in the distance on some of the higher peaks like Skiddaw and Blencathra. I would recommend this walk if you are looking for something less challenging that can be done in the shorter hours of the winter months.
