Tearfund Canada uplifts unstoppable women in Kenya

The Empowering Women in Kenya project is award-winning! Tearfund Canada and their partner Fadhili Trust were awarded MCIC’s 2025 Development Impact Award for this inspiring project which focused on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The Empowering Women in Kenya project is driving sustainable change and empowering women through Village Savings and Loan Associations. The project sees women self-select and create their own groups with clear roles. They also receive training in business skills, financial literacy, gender equality and family nutrition. To celebrate and learn, Trisha Okenge (CEO, Tearfund Canada) and Josephine Munywoki (Executive Director, Fadhili Trust) joined us. How do the Village Savings and Loan Associations work?
