Pro-Am. Around this same time, a popular series titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had reached peak popularity spawning movies, comics, video games, and a hit TV show. Turtlemania was sweeping the nation in full swing by this point, bringing in boatloads of money to its owners. Many companies tried to cash in on the success of the popular franchise with their own versions of the turtles and Rare was no exception. In 1991, they began work on their own series featuring anthropomorphic animals, though there would be no turtles found here, but instead three muscular amphibians that would eventually come to be known as the Battletoads.
