Narcissists are users and abusers, plain and simple. They’re bullies and con artists; manipulators and oppressors. They’re blowhards and charmers, smiling at you one minute and cutting your throat the next. We might be conned into thinking that there’s substance behind all their grandiose attitude, but the narcissist is an empty shell, driven by a fierce and undying need to fill a gnawing sense of emptiness deep within. This propels their partner to feel sorry for them, when they perceive them as being “troubled” and they want to make them feel better by being more loved, cared for, forgiven and supported.
