When it comes to the best Jewish deli in NYC, or I should say the best Jewish style deli in NYC because technically non kosher delis are not really Jewish delis, Katz's deli is definitely the most iconic, if not one of the most iconic restaurants in NYC. Also known as Katz's delicatessen, it is one of the most touristy and famous restaurants in the world, not just one of the most famous restaurants of NYC or even America. However, as mentioned Katz's is touristy, so the line is always intense! But what if I told you there are delis that are less packed with food that is equally as good? (Said in Morpheus voice). I have eaten Liebman's Deli in the Bronx, which is absolutely excellent. Frankel's Deli in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is also wonderful. I have now discovered another through that rivals Katz's quality. The Canadian style smoked meat sandwich shop in Downtown Brooklyn, Mile End Deli, is nothing short of fantastic. It may not be pastrami, but it's smoked meat which is similar.
