I'll unbox and rate this BBOX 1/200 Cathay Pacific 747-400 flaps down model in 10 categories. This batch of Cathay 747-400 comes with 4 different variants. The packaging is very neat and safe. So, I'll give an 8 for packaging. This model comes with a standard display stand and a set of removable landing gear. I'll give accessories a 9. I'll say this is the best 747 mould available in the market. The iconic features of the 747 from the cockpit section, down to the nose, is almost perfect on this model. Honestly, it's really hard to find any flaws with it. This mould is regarded by many as the best because it is seamless around the wing and the belly. Without a doubt, this BBOX mould is superior to its main competitor Inflight200's 747 mould. The vertical stabilizer and the wings are very finely shaped. There are no errors or issues noted for this aircraft. So, I'll give the mould a 10 out of 10. I have to point out that the best part of these 2 pairs of Rolls Royce RB211 engines are their pylons. They are very well positioned so that all 4 engines are pointing forward at the same angle. In fact, it is not uncommon to fail to achieve this. I'll show you one example in another 747 unboxing video. I'll give this Cathay a 9 for the engines. The build of this model is very good. All angles and positions are correct. There is no visible gap at the attachments and joints. I'll give a 9 for build. It's very easy to put on the landing gear. The tightness of the gear leg joints are just perfect. So, you can put the gear in a very good looking tilt position. The only criticism I'd give is the oversized wheel hub. This is a common issue easily found in Gemini, JC Wings and BBOX models. I'll give a 9 for the undercarriage. The greatest selling point of this model is its flaps down configuration. All the flaps and slats are fully set for landing. Look at the track fairings and I'm sure you'll be impressed by how refined they are. All the major features are accurately depicted. The APU is exceptionally detailed. And the landing lights on the wings are made by inserted gems. The nose gear also features two gems that signify the landing lights. And the small joint area here is painted in silver. It's so realistic. However, there's a missing antenna at the bottom for this particular model. But it won't affect my appreciation for the overall performance. I'll give details a 10 out of 10. Cathay's signature Brushwing logo and the dark green and red livery on the body is free of errors. It got the unique Cathay Pacific title typeface correct. So, I'll give a 9 for livery. I think the painting of the landing gear doors is overdone. Apart from this, there's another quite critical issue with this almost perfect model. There's a flaw on Cathay's light bluish grey colour on the fuselage. So many manufacturers have made this same mistake. It seems it's very hard for them to reproduce Cathay's unique light bluish grey colour. Let's take an original Cathay 747-400 aircraft skin as our colour reference tool here. It's very obvious that the paint of this model is a bit bluish. To me, this is a fatal error. So, I can only give painting a 7. This Cathay flaps down is extremely limited in production. It is well known as one of the most highly sought after products. It's purely luck for one to find it in the second hand market. I'll give a 9 for value. I'll give this Cathay flaps down a total of 89 points in my ARAIG Index. Do you also have this super rare model?
