See how to remove a stripped screw from a master cylinder in this video from Partzilla.com. This is going to happen to almost everyone sooner or later: the head of a Phillips screw will strip out. Corrosion, a mis-sized screwdriver, or dirt in the head of the screw can all cause you to accidentally strip the screw. In this video, John will show you a couple of methods for removing a stripped screw. First, we’ll see if just giving it a run with a larger Phillips head will get a bite on the screw. Next, we’ll use a hand impact driver. This will use some downward force to try and get just enough bite on one edge to break the screw loose. Finally, if all else fails, John will explain how you might be able to drill a pilot hole and then work the screw out.
