But what happens when bad weather messes up your travel plans? We almost skipped this whole leg of the trip, because the forecast wasn’t looking great. Look how much we would have missed! In travel, as is with life in general, you have to take the good with the bad, and memories with your family can still be made in the rain… Sometimes they are the ones you remember most! Our waterfront site at Oceanside RV Park couldn’t have been more perfect for us to finally grill up the salmon that we caught ourselves in Homer and for Corey to finally be able to pull out his “camp candle”! This portable campfire is the best when you don’t have any other options but want to have the ambiance and heat of a real fire! You can get your camp candle here: https://amzn.to/4jvou0W Corey set up a time-lapse overnight to capture the cruise ships going by and ended up getting a whole lot more than he was expecting! #yearofnorthernlights The next morning we were early (what is happening??? We’re the Nickersons!!! 😂) for the ferry, so we headed down to Chilkoot Lake to see if we could catch some of the grizzlies that are frequently seen at the fish weir there! With only 15 minutes to spare, we got to see the biggest bear we have ever seen and some eagles in the mist! It was magical! Our ferry ride was a little wet but so much fun! This ferry brings your rig down into the belly of the boat, and you are not allowed to stay in your RV while at sea, so be sure to bring some snacks or a lunch and some card games or a good book for your ride! Pulling into Skagway and seeing all the cruise ships was so exciting, because we will be hosting our first ever Sail Away to Alaska with Less Junk More Journey on September 26 - October 3, and we would LOVE to have you join us!  We have 100 Oceanview Balcony cabins for our Sail Away Crew and so many fun activities planned while also leaving plenty of time for you to plan your own port excursions, family time, spa time, couples time or whatever time you are looking for on this luxurious vacation!
