The Trollstigen is considered a special driving experience on a stretch of 11 kilometres and 11 hairpin bends along the traditional scenic route. The nearby town of Andalsnes on the Romsdalsfjord also offers a backdrop for daydreaming. We set off from the Valdresflye in Maurvangen in a northerly direction. On the approximately 230-kilometre route, we stop at the Romsdal Bridge near Bjorli and enjoy the fantastic scenery of this natural stone structure on the Rauma River. Not far from here we pass Slettafossen and then take a break at Trollveggen. Here, in addition to historical information from the Second World War, there is also a nice souvenir shop surrounded by trolls. Our accommodation for the next two days is the Trollstigen campsite, which attracts us with its location and facilities. Despite the changeable weather and the closure to vehicles, we find our way up to the Trollstigen viewing platform. The pass is spectacular and impresses us with every step. The footpaths in particular offer views that are denied to us on any car journey. A detour to Andalsnes shows us the direct contrast to the Trollstigen adventure, as the location directly on the Romsdalfjord allows us to daydream in the small town of around 2400 inhabitants at the harbour and in the centre.
