The Michael Chekhov Way is a life path towards Peace--the artist who lives the four Brothers of Art sees beauty, takes action with ease, fills the form of their minds, feelings, and will impulses, their bodies, with a sense of truth and wholeness, of unity. I was personally inspired at 9 years old when I met Dr. Martin Luther King at breakfast before his "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington DC on Aug. 28, 1963. Holding his hand, he holding mine, It seemed like a direct transmission of his message: Peace through non-violent action. When the Unity Farmer's Branch Newsletter came to me the other day, it included this 64 days of Non-violence, I believe, courtesy of Len, I became inspired to explore this theme through the Michael Chekhov Way. As a path to peak performance living, peace, and non-violence begins in the heart of every human being. I hope this journey inspires you to raise the bar of your inner world and express in outer action and interaction with every thought and breath, and step you take. Take time to sense, smell, imagine, listen, see how you shift when you experience understanding of that/those that you criticize, of what triggers inner violent impulses. Note the differences in your thoughts, feelings, and desires when you feel ignorant versus when you have educated yourself about a topic. Note the directions, weight, and qualities and sensations that change as you comprehend the unknown--you make friends with peace within yourself, another, or the events of the world. Will you choose to find out more information about all sides of a question? Seek to learn about that part of yourself that you judge and aspects of the other that awaken your fear. Learn their point of view, way of life, challenges, and heartbreaks. If you think you know all there is, your cup is full and can receive no more. Make education a way of life by learning something every day about something that scares you.
