CITRIC ACID: Grapes are considered a treasure trove for skin. So here, I tried to combine this wonderful ingredient into soap, by cold process method. Some benefits are: 1. It reduce skin acne, reduce premature aging, combats skin damages, maintains even skin tone and makes skin glow and shine. 2. It comes packed with anti - ageing and Wrinkle free properties, meant for young and Healthy skin. CITRIC ACID: Citric acid is derived from citrus fruits, making it a plant based and readily available option for soap makers. In soap making, citric acid is beneficial because it helps soften hard water by chelating minerals like calcium and magnesium, reducing soap scum, enhancing lather, helps extend shelf life and improving the overall cleaning power of the soap, making it particularly useful in areas with hard water. The antioxidant properties of citric acid also help in preventing oxidation and discoloration. It also helps maintain the pH level to some extent. CALCULATIONS: When we make soaps using citric acid it consumes some of the Sodium Hydroxide NaOH. So if we do not add extra NaOH, it will increase the superfat in the recipe. So for every 1 gram of citric acid, add approximately 0.624 gram of extra lye or NaOH. So, for this recipe, I used 10 gram citric acid. This means I need to add 0.624 x 10 = 6.24 g extra NaOH. I round it off and added 6g extra. I don't mind if the superfat is raised by a tiny amount. I hope you found something useful for you from this video.
