Hello! Here's another video of making Cold Process soap with Organic Turmeric Powder using lye solution and oils. Lye is the chemical required to make soap in a natural way. It reacts with oil and upon reaching saponification it turns to soap. Of course, we do need to cure the soap for about 1 - 1.5 months. Which means we let the soap dry out and mature so it can be used safely on skin. I did not scent the soap but you could scent yours with Essential Oils or Fragrance Oils of your choice. My Essential Oil or Fragrance usage rate is usually between 2-3% which gives mild scent. You could go till 5% if you are more into stronger scent. Citric Acid: This is optional, but using citric acid can help soften water and reduce soap scum, especially if you have hard water supply. Citric acid is found in citrus fruits too. When we make soaps using citric acid it consumes some of the Sodium Hydroxide NaOH. So if we do not add extra NaOH, it will increase the superfat in the recipe. So for every 1 gram of citric acid, add approximately 0.624 gram of extra lye or NaOH. So, for this recipe, I used 10 gram citric acid. This means I need to add 0.624 x 10 = 6.24 g extra NaOH. I round it off and added 6g extra. I don't mind if the superfat is raised by a tiny amount. I hope you found something useful for you from this video.
