The 40th Annual Conference of Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies (HumanDHS) was held at the National University of Distance Education / Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Madrid, Spain, and online, from 17th – 20th September 2024. The conference was titled 'Global Vulnerabilities – From Humiliation to Dignity and Solidarity'. The host of this conference was Professor Saulo Fernández Arregui, who was introduced to Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies through Professor Emeritus José Francisco Morales Domínguez. This is Day Two of this conference, 18th September 2024, part of the workshop part of this conference. Stefanie Dinkelbach is an accomplished artist, filmmaker, and scholar based in Ireland, originally from Germany. Since moving to Ireland in 1993, she has developed a distinctive artistic practice that includes ceramic sculpture and integrates her skills in filmmaking and research. Dinkelbach studied at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where she refined her artistic and academic abilities. Her work often explores themes of identity and culture through a figurative approach, incorporating elements of storytelling in her visual media. She has gained recognition for her contributions to the contemporary art scene in Ireland, with features in various publications such as the Irish Examiner that highlight her impact. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Dinkelbach is dedicated to community engagement and education, mentoring emerging creative practitioners at Crinklefilms Ltd. Through her innovative work and commitment to nurturing talent, she plays a significant role in Ireland's vibrant arts landscape. Stefanie Dinkelbach completed a PhD thesis that focuses on the intersection of art, film, and identity. Her research delves into how visual storytelling can convey complex narratives and cultural identities, particularly in the context of contemporary society. In her thesis, Dinkelbach explores the methodologies and practices that inform her artistic work, examining how these elements contribute to a deeper understanding of identity formation through visual media. By integrating theoretical frameworks with practical applications, her research not only enhances her own artistic practice but also contributes to broader discussions within the fields of art and film studies. This academic endeavor underscores her commitment to both artistic innovation and scholarly inquiry, positioning her as a significant figure in the exploration of cultural narratives through art.
