Today we’re hiking the Punta Lobos trail, often called the Sugar Port Trail, in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur in Mexico. We start by exploring the eerie (and very cool) old cannery / fish-processing ruins across from Hotel San Cristóbal, then head to the beach near the fishermen and hike up to the cliff-top viewpoints. This hike is about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas. The trail is easy to follow, mostly gradual, and the payoff at the top is big: ocean views in both directions, dramatic cliffs, and a sweeping beach to the north. When we visited in December, we even spotted whales offshore from the top. If you’re planning this hike, this video shows: where to turn off Hwy 19, where to park for the ruins, where the trail starts (behind the small yellow chapel), and what the cliffside section looks like.
