Who needs strats and grinding in Pokémon, when you can just exploit the most broken battle mechanic in Generation 1? The Elite Four won't know what hit them... 😊 Like what you 👀? X Accuracy is particularly useful, as no moves in Generation 1 increase accuracy in battle. So how does X Accuracy work? Well in Generations 1 and 2 at least, using X Accuracy in battle ignores accuracy checks. Essentially, making any move hit without fail. That includes One Hit Knockout (OHKO) moves such as Fissure, Guillotine and Horn Drill. Nidoking - and Nidoqueen - have the advantage of being able to learn two OHKO moves. That being Horn Drill and Fissure. This is important as Horn Drill is immune to Agatha's ghost types, and Fissure is immune to Lance's flying types. In addition to X Accuracy's, we need a few more items to help Nidoking out. To keep Horn Drill and Fissure restocked, some Elixers are needed to restore PP between after second battle. A few Full Restores are also needed, as Nidoking will likely take damage setting up the sweep. X Accuracy is seriously OP in Generation 1, but a few things need to be considered... In Generation 1 only, any OHKO will automatically fail if the target is faster. Nidoking needs to out-speed every opponent to sweep. This is why my rival has a Flareon instead of Jolteon, but X Speed can also remedy that problem. Also a Gen 1 only mechanic, levels have no bearing on OHKO moves working. This is why my Nidoking can sweep higher level Pokémon. This was changed from Generation 2 onwards, but X Accuracy still works the same way. This will also not work in Fire Red and Leaf Green, as X Accuracy works differently from Generation 3 onwards. Lastly, OHKO moves work differently the Pokémon Stadium series. A slower Pokémon can still take out Mewtwo with a 30% success rate. However, using Gen 2 moves such as Mind Reader or Lock-On the previous turn, effectively act as an individual X Accuracy in battle.
