An avid promoter of the practical ways in which AI can improve the lives of others, Scott, associate professor of Information, Risk and Operations Management at Texas McCombs, also works to debunk the myths surrounding this burgeoning technology and show people it might not be as scary as it seems. When it comes to press coverage of AI, Scott sees a big imbalance, he said during a conversation with Jay Hartzell, dean of the McCombs School of Business. Scott spoke at the inaugural Texas McCombs Presents event at Rowling Hall. “While AI is, yes, partly about the technology, it’s partly about the computers … It is first and foremost the story of ideas,” Scott says. “And most of the ideas involved are strikingly old when you consider how new these technologies are.” Read more:
