In today’s adventure, while attending the “Overland the Red” event at Callie’s campground, we dive deep into the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in Eastern Kentucky — tackling two classic DBBB trails back-to-back: 🔥 Ross Creek (Pistol Creek) 🔥 Eli Sparks (Barnes Buck) If you love real off-road terrain, creek crossings, tight forest lines, mud, and authentic Eastern Kentucky backcountry, this one’s for you. ⸻ 🎥Trail 1: Ross Creek (Pistol Creek) Ross Creek is one of the DBBB’s most atmospheric and beautifully unique trails — known for rock, mud holes, deep ruts, and multiple creek crossings. Conditions shift fast depending on rain, and this trail can go from “fun and scenic” to “mud & high water challenge” in no time. A true test for any 4×4, especially a full-size overland build. You’re going to find yourself DEEP in the dark hills of Eastern Kentucky, so go prepared. ⸻ 🎥Trail 2: Eli Sparks (Barnes Buck / Eli Sparks Road) After wrapping up Ross Creek, we head into Eli Sparks (Barnes Buck) a moderate dirt-road style trail with rapidly deteriorating terrain and rolling forest scenery the farther you progress. It’s the perfect trail to make a complete loop for an amazing day— still rugged, still remote, so don’t drop your guard too soon. There are some big mud holes and deep ruts on this section. ⸻ 👍 If you enjoy real-world overlanding & off-road content: Hit LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and help support the channel as we explore more hidden trails across Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan’s U.P., West Virginia, and the backroads of North America. You never know where we’ll end up? You can get the official map 🧭 from https://ridethedbbb.org/map/ You can also get the Gaia app and add the overland layer to view the map. As far as trail ratings, do not go alone unless you’re a seasoned well equipped off-roader. Most are very easy, but you can get in over your head quick. These trails change a lot very quickly with the seasons and constant traffic they see. If you need a guide service there are a few in the area. “Justice Explores” is one. / justiceexplores Or you can attend the Spring or Fall Back the Byway events held at Callie’s campground. / 611154338388914 And there is “Overland the Red” held every October at Callie’s campground.⛺️ / 1049296430588038 #RossCreek, #PistolCreek, #EliSparks, #BarnesBuck, #DBBB, #DanielBooneBackcountryByway, #KentuckyOffRoad, #Overlanding, #JeepJKU, #JeepLife, #OffRoadAdventure, #4x4Trails, #KentuckyOverlanding, #OffRoadKentucky, #OHV4KY, #KentuckyTourism, #Jeep, #Rubicon, #JKU
