A Letter of Encouragement | Until He Returns

Today we began a new series in 1 & 2 Thessalonians called Until He Returns. Paul wrote this letter to believers who were surrounded by pressure, confusion, and cultural opposition—people trying to figure out how to live faithfully while waiting for Jesus to come back. The Thessalonian church was young, imperfect, and facing real hardship, yet Paul thanks God for their faith, love, and hope. He reminds them who they are—loved and chosen by God—and calls them to stay grounded in God’s Word, guided by the Holy Spirit, and faithful in how they live. Their faith didn’t stay quiet. It became visible. Others noticed. And their hope wasn’t rooted in circumstances, but in Jesus—who delivers, sustains, and will return. The same questions they wrestled with are still ours today: How do we live in a difficult culture? What do we do with suffering? How do we wait well? Paul’s answer is clear—remember who you are, keep going, and stay hopeful.
