The Yorkshire Dales – Where My Hair Frizzed, My Heart Melted, and My Liver Took a Hit Well, the Yorkshire Dales have well and truly wrapped their soggy, sun-drenched, spectacular arms around me. One minute it was raining sideways, the next I was squinting into blinding sunshine like I’d just time-travelled to the tropics (if the tropics had sheep, stone walls, and pubs that haven’t changed since Shakespeare had a pint). I rode through scenery so stunning I nearly forgot I was navigating it on a 430kg beast built more for outback roads than tiny twisty lanes designed for tractors and sheep disputes. I met locals who could charm the socks off a scarecrow, joined an impromptu Sunday night pub crawl (purely for cultural research, obviously), and discovered waterfalls, time-warp pubs, and even a few gypsies with stories juicier than a Yorkshire pudding soaked in gravy. But the biggest surprise? I fell in love. With a town. A bloody village, really. Hawes. Yep, I fell for it hard. Might’ve even googled “how to buy a cottage with a view and a pub within stumbling distance.” Today’s episode will serve you this Dales madness on a digital platter—rain, sunshine, rambling roads, and all the lovable chaos in between. For now, I’m tucked in with the locals, drink in hand, grinning like a sheep who found a gap in the fence. Life’s good. Yorkshire’s better. And Hawes? Hawes is a heart-stealer.
