After spending a night in the surf town of El Tunco, making my insurance claim and my couchsurfing host canceling on me on the last minute, I continued backpacking in El Salvador. I chose to go exploring a slightly less touristy place. Although Suchitoto is visited by tourists, it's still off the beaten path for most travelers. This beautiful cobblestone street town is situated an hour away from El Salvador's capital, and so I made my way to San Salvador hitchhiking ( yes, hitchhiking alone as a female traveler ) where I catched the bus. Suchitoto is located above this beautiful man-made lake, lake Suchitlan, and I recommend this town to anyone who wants to enjoy some peace and quiet.
