WEEK 24 - BRIBIE ISLAND DREDGE UPDATE | the final dredge breakthrough

Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel! We’re into Week 24 — and maybe, we’re finally seeing the end of this “emergency fix.” This week a tropical low rolled through, bringing a few days of heavy rain. I managed to get the drone up in the short breaks between showers, but you’ll notice the Pumicestone Passage turned into a chocolate‑brown mess pretty quickly. Visibility wasn’t great, but that’s nature for you. You’ll also catch the really interesting clash between the tides — the fresh ocean tide pushing in while the rain‑fed outgoing tide fights back. The big update: the Dredge (Arnhem) has finally broken through the last choked sandbar and is now pushing forward with a 3‑metre depth at the Bullock Beach access. That’s huge news for the Coast Guard and other vessels — safer passage and cleaner water ahead. By Thursday, the surveyors were out and the pipes had been shortened, so… is this the beginning of the end? The next phase will be vegetation planting, so we’re definitely moving forward.
