Join us as we explore Southern Tasmania, starting with a relaxed stay in Geeveston before heading high into the mountains to hike Hartz Peak. After settling in at the CMCA camp, we wander into town to discover beautifully crafted wooden sculptures and soak up the small-town charm. On Sunday, it’s time to train — we drive up to Hartz Mountains National Park, sign the hiking register (safety first), and begin the climb to Hartz Peak. The trail delivers a mix of rocky sections, stunning alpine boardwalks, delicate mountain wildflowers, and a rock scramble near the summit. With strong winds and thick cloud, the views disappear — but the sense of achievement at the top is unforgettable. Still hungry for adventure, we finish the day visiting Arve Falls, Waratah Lookout, and a quick stop at Tahune Adventures, before returning to Geeveston where the local markets are in full swing. From misty mountain summits to handmade local goods, this is Tasmania at its raw and rewarding best.
