(26 Jun 1999) Natural Sound U-S marines have rounded up several suspected looters and Kosovo Liberation Army members, after a wave of destruction against Serb property in the village of Zegra. The K-L-A reportedly entered the village in the southeast of Kosovo on Saturday and torched houses belonging to Serbs. U-S attack helicopters buzzed the village of Zegra on Saturday in a bid to end an armed K-L-A assault. But it was already too late to save much of the Serb property in the village. K-L-A irregulars had already torched many of the homes belonging to Zegra's Serb inhabitants. Local ethnic Albanians were busy looting property belonging to their former neighbours. U-S marines patrolled the streets, looking for K-L-A men and looters. One man was forced to return property he had stolen. All the Serb inhabitants of Zegra bar this one old man have fled their homes in fear of reprisals from the K-L-A and returning ethnic Albanian refugees. The attack came two days after U-S marines shot dead two Serbs in the village. The suspects were taken to a gymnasium where they were interrogated by military police.
