I wasn’t sure what to do as I was told I needed to "bulk” to gain muscle. But, if I “bulked,” wouldn’t my belly become bigger as I gain weight? Genetics aside, the reason why most of us are “skinny fat” is because of a lack of exercise and poor nutrition intake. Having a lack of exercise means that your body will not be building any muscle, while having a poor nutrition intake (usually lack of protein) means that you are generally in a surplus. Having a lack of protein also gives your body a reason not to retain muscle mass as well. You can very easily fix this but do give yourself some time and dont be too hard on yourself.
