Meet the Developers Series Episode 01 presents Sonible co-founder, Alex Wankhammer. In this interview, Alex speaks about his journey to becoming a developer and what inspires him and his team to come up with concepts for new products. Sonible has used the AI technology in their products to create what Alex refers to as the “Assisted Mixing Technology”. The idea is to feel that a virtual mixing engineer is sitting next to you, and you use the suggestions provided as a basis to build on. “We didn’t want to replace the whole mixing know-how or the whole process, we just wanted to augment it. By doing that for beginners, we kind of reduced the entry hurdle and made it easier to get started making music; and for professionals, we allowed them to get results faster”, says Alex. There are still a lot of ideas for new products and even improvements to the existing ones. Theoretically, the technology is there to support such ideas. The challenge remains turning the technology into a workable, user-friendly product that fills a gap in the music creation process.
