Did you know that there’s a scientifically-proven prescription for joy? We’re talking to the Science Director at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center (GGSC), Dr. Emiliana Simon-Thomas, about research-backed approaches to increasing your happiness. GGSC tracks the latest studies around social connections, tendency towards generosity, and how contribution to community fosters well being. You’ll hear Dr. Thomas’s definition of happiness and will learn about the three pillars that affect our overall joy: The ability to feel well when things are going well. Handling life’s difficulties in a graceful way. Feeling connected to something bigger than yourself. Next, you’ll learn three practical things you can do to positively impact how happy you are, and the science behind it. 2:17 Strength social connections 5:21 Be generous 8:28 Foster pro social activities And finally, you’ll get a prescription for increasing happiness that includes self awareness and gratitude. As a bonus, you’ll hear a simple, 3-step formula to powerfully express gratitude in a way where it leaves a lasting impact. ---- ABOUT DR.
